WHAT’S GOING ON...AT HOME

Pastor Visits
This Fall I will again do my best to visit every member in their home. Please expect a phone call to schedule a visit or sign-up at church.

Voters Meeting and Potluck
Our upcoming voters meeting with potluck will be Sunday, October 13th at 11:45am.

“10 for 10” WELS Stewardship Emphasis
You will be receiving several mailings, devotional pieces, and a commitment packet over the next few months as part of our “10 for 10” Stewardship Emphasis. Receive them in the spirit they are offered: As an opportunity to grow in faith and in the grace of giving. Study them. Think about them. Pray through them. They will help keep our stewardship emphasis centered in Christ and the cross as we seek to avoid financial quick-fixes and gimmicks!
We will challenge our St. Paul’s family to give a tithe (10%) OR to increase the proportion of what we are giving the Lord for our weekly offerings for a period of ten weeks. Why? Our giving shows the Lord the honor, love, and gratitude we have for all that Christ has done for us. Generous giving is one of the ways that faith-filled hearts respond to the riches of Christ. Giving is an act of worship. That’s the only reason we pass offering plates during church services.
“Now to him, who is able, according to the power that is at work within us, to do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21).

Sunday School Teachers Needed
We would like several people to volunteer to teach the younger children on a ONE MONTH rotation basis. As “many hands make light work”, please prayerfully consider adding your name to the schedule in the church entry way. Thank you for sering in the Lord's house!

Bible Information Classes (B.I.C.)
Building on the Scriptures is building faith on a firm foundation. Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. we are holding a Bible Information Class for interested members and non-members. Review your Bible basics from a more mature point of view. Ask your questions in a safe learning environment. Grow in your faith and understanding of God and his Word.
Please come and invite others to join us also!

College Students.
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity” (1 Timothy 4:12)

WELS conducts more than 550 campus ministries across the United States and Canada. The mission of WELS Campus Ministry is to help WELS college students grow in their faith so that they can reach out to other college students with the gospel. Campus Ministry also supports full- and part-time campus pastors, and provides helps for WELS congregations as they reach out to college students in their area.

Students entering college or in college are invited and encouraged to register with WELS Campus Ministry by going to the link below. Then click the button on the bottom of the linked page.

Please make certain that all of our college students receive this information!

The Evangelical Heritage Version (EHV) Bible.  “The Wartburg Project” is a group of Lutheran pastors and professors who are working together to produce a new translation of the Bible, the Evangelical Heritage Version®. Dr. John Brug, Professor-emeritus of Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary (Systematic Theology and Old Testament), serves as the general editor and Old Testament editor. Rev. Brian Keller, Pastor at St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church, Adrian, MI serves as the New Testament editor. The New Testament and Psalms is available in book and electronic formats. The Old Testament translation is finished, but we are still making final checks and having it set up for printing.

We’ve been blessed with a large team of volunteers with many gifts. Translators have completed their work. Technical reviewers checked our translations for accuracy on the basis of the original Hebrew and Greek languages. (One example is Professor-emeritus David Kuske of Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, who has served faithfully as a translator/reviewer and helped us determine the best NT manuscript evidence.) We were blessed to have a team of more than 100 participants, including Christian teachers and lay people who served as proofreaders and popular reviewers.

Technology has certainly been a big help with this project. Technology has connected our participants from all around the world. We can have meetings without even leaving our homes and offices. We have come a long way since September 2013! We appreciate the prayers and generous financial support we have been receiving.

We are thankful to God for all that has been accomplished! The result is the Bible translation called the Evangelical Heritage Version ® (EHV®).

The Evangelical Heritage Version (EHV) Bible can now be found online at BibleGateway.com. The Old Testament translation is being prepared for printing.

For the Generations to Come
WELS Congregational Services exists to help congregations engage in faithful and fruitful ministry. Programs are being developed to help congregations in evangelism, worship, compassion ministries, discipleship, and outreach through WELS schools. By strengthening our members and congregations, WELS will be able to continue proclaiming the gospel message around the world. To learn more about how Congregational Services is helping our synod for future generations, visit wels.net/forthegenerationstocome.

Connecting our youngest members through Kids Connection
The Commission on Discipleship invites you to join us for Season 24 of Kids Connection. Renew your subscription or start a new one for your school or Sunday school at nph.net/kidsconnection. It is our prayer that Kids Connection and the gospel it shares will encourage you and your students to stay connected to each other; to others in WELS; and most important, to Jesus.

Plan your Mission Journey
WELS Mission Journeys, the official WELS program for short-term mission trips, provides an opportunity for all WELS members to walk together in the Great Commission. Through church- or school-based volunteer trips to WELS mission fields at home and abroad, members have the opportunity to engage in Christian service. With the Lord’s blessing, these trips will inspire a lifelong journey of service and outreach for all who volunteer. Want to learn more about how you can get involved? Visit wels.net/missionjourneys.
